Rooted Edge Consulting brings decades of experience running staff recruitment searches as consultant and in-house with mission-driven organizations. Through our training sessions, your in-house recruitment staff (or staff who support recruitment efforts in some way) will participate in trainings to sharpen their recruitment skills, learn some of our favorite best practices, learn more about diversity, equity, and inclusion in the recruitment process, and more. Our training sessions over zoom with Sarah Bennett or another expert member of our team and we have options for group and one-on-one training sessions. Staff Recruitment Session #1
Writing job descriptions
Length: 1 hour

Individual sessions w/ Sarah: Scheduled based on Sarah and your availability ($70 per attendee). If it's your first session with Rooted Edge, good news, it's free!

This session will include ideal sections for a job description, how to write one, some helpful overall principles and DEI best practices related to JDs, and final steps for going live with your new position! If you struggle to write your job descriptions, the JDs you've used feel uninspiring, and you want to strengthen your DEI best practices to this part of your process, this would be a great session for you. Building Your Candidate Pool:
Postings, Networking, and Conversations
Length: 1.25 hours

Building a talented, diverse, and qualified candidate pools takes some strategy, thoughtfulness, and time. In this session, we'll review some principles for building your candidate pool, advice on passive recruitment (jobs boards and social media), as well as advice on more active recruitment (alerting your networks, having conversations), in addition to some tips and practice on how to approach those conversations. The Interview Process
Key Steps: How to Prep and Hold an Effective Interview
Length: 1.25 hours

This session will cover all of the steps in making a hire (from gathering the information you need to about the job all the way to making an offer) as well as the ideal interview process. This session will also include some important prep and advice for holding interviews, including how to write interview questions, DEI best practices in interviews, and a short practice section on reviewing a candidate files and interviewing skills. Making Reference Calls
Length: 45 Minutes

The final step in the process before you finalize your decision, but an oh-so-important one since it's your opportunity to talk with people who have worked with potential hire directly! Join us for a session which will include: some principles for doing these right; a standard outline for the call; advice on the ideal references to talk to and how to prep and hold effective calls. In many cases, these are rushed and more a rubber stamp than thoughtful chat. We'll make sure you're in good shape when you get this stage.
